Classes
Presented By Pastor John E. Coleman AA, BA, MA
The
following are just a few of the classes we offer in
the ministry. These classes will be presented in a real
and meaningful way personally by Pastor John E. Coleman.
You have heard him argue successfully over the radio
presentation the claims of the message of salvation.
It is because of his style that many students of the
word have elected to take these dynamic classes. Please
keep in mind, these classes even though taught on a
graduate level, are not accredited or transferable to
higher institutions of learning. At the same time, the
information that you will receive will benefit you as
you gain a greater insight into biblical theology assisting
you in Christian growth and development for the rest
of your lives. Most of the classes run on a ten week
basis. Each class is independent of other class schedules
that may already be in session. If the Lord is leading
you take the challenge to become a more dynamic Believer,
pray before you consider studying with Pastor John.
He will expect and demand the highest standard of Christian
thought. It is essential that all students are Believers
prior to signing up for the classes, in that a non believer
will not be able to digest Pastor John's direct style
of approaching the subject matter. Also note, you will
be expected to become a working participant in the class.
It is essential that your writing and communicative
skills are operative during the entire course of study.
God bless you, and we do trust that you will decide
to study with us. Into The Word Ministries / The Biblical

Biblical Homiletics / Expositional
Preaching & Teaching For Today's Society Now Is The
Time!
If our preaching / teaching is going to be effective,
there must be a discipline of the homily. Our community
is in need of understanding what it is that God is saying
to us in clear and concise words. The minister / Pastor
must be properly trained and equipped to present an
intelligent presentation of the message of God’s words
to the people of God. This is a twenty seven week course
that will develop these skills that are totally essential
towards the successful completion of our teaching curriculum.
Keep in mind that you take all of these classes in the
Pastor’s study. You gain the opportunity to study where
I study. This is a must for the serious teacher of the
scriptures.

Biblical Basics Of The Faith
/ Class 7PM (323) 293-7335
When
one is introduced into the faith, there must be some
basic training involved in the life of their Christian
instruction. The basic knowledge that each Christian
is required to have is founded upon their basic understanding
of theological concepts. This class which has a ten
week session period is essential before there can be
further theological training. The subject matter which
will be presented in general survey form in this class
are as follows;
(1)
The Bible (2) Man (3) Sin (4) Salvation (5) The Church
(6) Angles, Demons & Satan (7) & (8) The Future
Pt. 1 & 2 (9) Review for final (10) Final Exam

Discipline Through Discipleship
/
If
one calls themselves Christian, it is a must that they
understand what the term “Disciple” implies. This will
be a study that will totally define the Christian Disciple
from the vantage point of Historical Old Testament and
New Testament. The student will also be given the biblical
foundations of historical Discipleship from the vantage
point of Jesus’ perspective. This class is scheduled
to run for a period of ten weeks. If one is not sure
of their Christianity, this class promises to solve
that question.

Defining Church Dynamics Through
The Doctrinal Statement
This
class causes the student of the Bible to look closely
at framing a doctrinal statement of a church. In a day
and age when the Pastor or Deacon board sets the standards
of the local church, I believe that the Bible sets the
standard for the qualifications of the constitution
of a biblical church. Thus, we shall look closely at
what the Doctrinal Statement of a ministry is seeking
to produce in the life of the general community. This
is a three week class. I propose that the Pastors of
local church attend this class just for the purpose
of defining their doctrinal perspectives.
†
Pastoral Ministries /
This
is a special class in that I shall attempt to meet with
other men that have been called into pastoral ministry.
The attempt of this class will be to not only to answer
questions pertaining to ministry, but to further equip
that minister to live within the framework of a biblical
mindset of instruction as the student and the teacher
investigate the issues through the biblical grid of
the scriptures. This class is a must for the pastor
or minister that needs that time for questions and answers.
This is also a class that details that special emphasis
on the African American Male.
†
Biblical Canonicity / (323)
293-7335
We read these words in 1st Peter 3:15 “But sanctify
Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to
make a defense to everyone who ask you to give an account
for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and
reverence..” The question that this class attempts to
answers is; “how can we provide a good defense if we
cannot argue the validly of the very scriptures we are
seeking to defend? This is a must for the minister of
the Gospel. I will speak in terms that the person of
God can fully understand. The Bible is reliable as we
defend it properly. The text from which I teach this
class was written in 1948. It will challenge the student
that really has a need to know the facts of the scriptures.
†
Biblical Hermeneutics /
This
subject matter deals with the art and science of scriptural
interpretation. If the Christian is to be affective
in the transmittal of the good news, they must fully
understand the scriptural mandate to search the scriptures.
We shall attempt to define this science of biblical
Hermeneutics in such a way that the student when completing
this class will see the benefit of such a study by practicing
the ‘Hermeneutic”. This is a twelve week class in that
I take extra time to assist the student in doing Hermeneutics.
You will be able to determine what the Pastor is saying
and if it is true or false. Are you excited yet?

Biblical Homiletics / Expositional
Preaching /
If our preaching / teaching is going to be effective,
there must be a discipline of the homily. Our community
is in need of understanding what it is that God is saying
to us in clear and concise words. The minister / Pastor
must be properly trained and equipped to present an

that will develop these skills that are totally essential

Keep in mind that you take all of these classes in the
Pastor’s study. You gain the opportunity to study where
I study. This is a must for the serious teacher of the

General Introduction To Apologetics
/
This
class is designed to teach the importance of arguing
biblical truth. We speak of arguing not in the negative
sense of what the word implies; rather the defending
of a text of scripture. We shall only grapple with the
surface issues of “Apologetics”. I teach philosophical
apologetics. In these classes I teach you to use reason
as well as the word as you listen, argue, and declare
the truth of the scriptures. This is also only a “10”
week class.
†
Biblical Eschatology /
The study of the end times is very important in that
the emphasis on eternity is stressed within the Christian
community. We shall discuss the various views of the
end times as we also discover the difference between
the following;
(1)
The Amillennial Persuasion (2) The Premillenial Persuasion
(3) The Pre-Tribulation Persuasion
Life
after death and what goes on there and wherever there
is will be the focus of this class. One of the main
themes of this class is to demonstrate in a clear and
direct way that you can understand the book of Revelation
as it connects with other Old Testament books as its
writers speaks clearly of the teachings of the end times.
No time period has been placed on this class. It is
just too extensive.
†
Introduction To Reformation Theology
/
The issues in this class are two. Is the student Armenian
or Calvinistic in their biblical belief system? Many
within our community have never considered this question.
This class will discuss both views and attempt to lead
the student of the scriptures to comply to the biblical
standard. This class will cause the student to develop
their ministry by one or the other view. I must tell
you, many students have changed their minds after studying
all of the biblical evidence as to why they believe
what they do. This is a “10” week class.
†
Pastoral Counseling /
How
does the pastor respond to his members when there are
crucial issues coming before him? We shall discover
biblical methodologies as opposed to the new psychological
counseling methods that have flooded our churches. Counseling
is a vital part of the Pastoral Ministry, but counseling
without a biblical framework is impossible. This will
be a ten week session class. The student is expected
to work through the difficulties that the instructor
provides. If you are not called to minister to other
people in a leadership capacity I do not recommend this
class. The student is asked to discuss openly and candidly
ways in which they might be affective in this area.
I love teaching this to the African American leaders
in the church, just to see them open to God and receive
of Him direction is just amazing.
†
Biblical Evangelism /
If
the biblical preacher
cannot or does not understand the importance of evangelism,
the church will not grow nor will the community get
to the point where they can be of usefulness to anyone.
This is a special class in that it does not attempt
to teach systematic approach, rather the attention is
placed upon God’s calling in the individuals life. Evangelism
without the leading of the Holy Spirit is useless. I
teach how this is possible. This is also a ten week
class.

General Theology / Systematics
/ Themes In Theology "Christology"
Our
teaching curriculum shall also include basic general
aspect of theology. We shall attempt to cover in the
time that we have left in our courses the following;
(1)
Soteriology: This is a
special study that pertains to biblical salvation. (2)
Christology: The study
of Christ and His duel nature; He is the God-Man and
He is God. (3) Justification &
Redemption: What justifies us, and what is our
redemption based upon? (4) Sanctification:
This is an on going process in the life of every believer.
We shall discuss the ramifications of a life that is
not being lived out through the process of sanctification.
(5) Dispensationalism:
Our study involves how God works throughout the ages.
Is He Immutable throughout time and history? This is
already a “10” week class
and you must take this one if you fully understand how
the Lord works His will through human history. Each
of these classes will be designed to fulfill the requirement
that I have set up for inner city Ministers. This training
program which is designed to cover a three year period
of training is demanding. I would expect the student
to complete all of the designed courses in order to
meet the basic essentials for pasturing a local inner
city church.
If
you are inclined to began studying with us, please note
that you will be required to sign a contract of integrity.
We believe that Believers are responsible for their
behavior in that this class will be given in the home
offices of the Ministry. Basics of the faith, as well
as all of our classes require a fee. On the first night
of the class you will be given an opportunity to chose
the payment plan that best suits your situation. Keep
in mind, these are not simple bible study classes, rather
classes that are taught to you by Pastor John on the
same level that any student that attends a biblical
seminary would expect. Please call the office for more
details concerning the courses provided.
